Bath Chronicle, June 26, 2001, by Rosslyn Brennan "Pupils enticed by school's CD-Rom; new approach: prospectus uses latest technology" ----------------------------------------------------------- A Bath school is using the latest technology to attract pupils from across the city - and the world. Kingswood School is set to launch its new interactive CD-Rom prospectus which gives parents and children a real taste of the school and what it can offer. The independent school is the first in the city of harness this new technology and it means that parents from overseas can find out more than ever about the school. Actor Tony Head, star of Buffy the Vampire Slayer and a parent at the school, provides the main voice-over for the CD-Rom. And he will be at the official launch on Thursday. The digital programme was created by Bath-based agency Novum Advertising. The package, which will be distributed in addition to the printed prospectus, combines the elements of sound, film, animation, artwork and text into a highly visual experience. Headmaster Gary Best said it was a real opportunity for the school. He said: "New technology will play an ever increasing part in the education of future generations of school children. And so what better way for Kingswood to demonstrate its appreciation of this than for the school to harness some of that technology as part of its own communication strategy." School registrar Angela Carlton Porter, who commissioned the programme, said it would be particularly useful for people who are unable to visit the school, perhaps because they are abroad. She said: "It provides a far better opportunity than just the printed word to appreciate what Kingswood School has to offer, and to encourage families to visit us. "I think the programme is unique in that it will be the first time that a school prospectus will appeal to parent and child in equal measure." ----------------------------------------------------------- Bentley's Bedlam http://www.BetsyDa.com/bedlam.html This website is for information and entertainment purposes only and is not intended to infringe on copyrights held by others.
