E! Online Gossip - The Awful Truth. November 2, 2000, by Ted Casablanca "Short Shrift" http://www.eonline.com/Gossip/Awful/Archive2000/001102e.html ----------------------------------------------------------- Stars and their costumed kids swept into Santa Monica's Barker Hangar for the 7th Annual Dream Halloween, which benefited the Children Affected by AIDS Foundation. A fun house, tattoos, superheroes scaling walls, a live auction and face painting by makeup artists from MAC, which sponsored the event, were all part of the event. Jamie Lee Curtis served as the evening's Witchtress of Ceremonies. Dressed as a pink Power Ranger, with her family in tow, J.L.C. said she's again hosting, after first being invited when Halloween H2O was released. "We thought it was a perfect pairing. I knew nothing about the organization or the event, and it's one of the greatest events I've ever been to," said the charitable chick. "It's fun, it's easy, it's helpful and there's a sense of humor about it, which for me is four things I'd like to be." After starring in so many scary flicks, not much scares the queen of screams, except..."AIDS scares me. Drug addiction scares me." And Jamie's vote for the scariest person in Hollywood? None other than former Moses and NRA chairman Charlton Heston. This being a celebrity gathering, after all, Curtis wasn't the only star bringing up politics. Anthony Stewart Head, who plays Giles on Buffy the Vampire Slayer, thinks George W. Bush is scary. "I'm British, so I can't vote," A.S.H. explained, "but he is definitely the scariest person." Jason Alexander had costume decisions on his mind as he hung with his wife and young son. The Seinfeld star was debating whether to dress as Frankenstein (his younger son's choice) or nothing at all (his older son's choice). "I'll probably end up as Frankenstein a block behind him," he shrugged. But celluloid monsters aren't what Alexander fears. "Real life scares me. Open up a New York Times--it's scary from one end to the other," J.A. confessed. "I used to really love scary movies. Two of my favorite films are The Exorcist and The Omen. My first film was actually a horror film, but you'll never find it--it was that bad. It was called The Burning, and it was Holly Hunter's and Harvey Weinstein's first movie." As for Hollywood's scariest celeb, Alexander was stumped. "Wow, very good question, trying to think who I won't piss off...Haley Joel Osment. He's a little scary. I directed him in his first movie role in For Better or Worse when he was five years old, and he was scary back then, too." (Haley, I'm sure he means scary in a "really good actor" way, not a "creepy little ghost-seeing kid" kind of way.) ----------------------------------------------------------- Bentley's Bedlam http://www.BetsyDa.com/bedlam.html This website is for information and entertainment purposes only and is not intended to infringe on copyrights held by others.
